04-06-2024Union Home Minister and senior BJP leader Amit Shah has achieved a decisive victory in the Gandhinagar Lok Sabha seat in Gujarat, securing an unassailable lead of over 7 lakh votes against his nearest rival, Congress's Sonal Ramanbhai Patel.
According to the latest data from the Election Commission, Shah garnered a total of 1,10,972 votes, while Patel received 2,66,256 votes. This win marks Shah's second term as the MP for Gandhinagar, a seat historically represented by BJP stalwart Lal Krishna Advani and once contested by former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
In the 2019 Lok Sabha election, Shah had won the Gandhinagar seat by a margin of over 5.57 lakh votes, showcasing his continued popularity in the region.
The BJP is also showing strong performance across Gujarat, leading in 23 out of the 25 other Lok Sabha seats. Notably, BJP's Surat candidate Mukesh Dalal has been declared the winner uncontested.
Additionally, Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya is poised for a comfortable victory in the Porbandar Lok Sabha seat, leading by over 3.8 lakh votes. Mandaviya has so far secured 6,25,962 votes, while his closest competitor, Congress's Lalit Vasoya, has received 2,45,677 votes.
As the counting process nears its conclusion, the BJP's dominance in Gujarat appears solidified, with significant leads and confirmed victories in key constituencies.
