In response to recent heightened security challenges in Jammu and Kashmir, Union Home Minister Amit Shah convened a crucial meeting with top officials from India's security establishment this morning. The meeting, also attended by Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, and Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla, focused on assessing and strategizing amid a series of four terror attacks within the region over the past week.

Among the key security leaders present were Intelligence Bureau Director Tapan Deka, Chief of Army Staff General Manoj Pande, Chief of Army Staff (designate) Lt General Upendra Dwivedi, and CRPF Director General Anish Dayal Singh.

The recent attacks, including a tragic incident on June 9 in Reasi where nine pilgrims lost their lives and 41 others were injured, have underscored significant security concerns. These incidents pose a formidable challenge to the current administration's efforts to maintain stability in Jammu and Kashmir since the revocation of its special status in 2019.

With the Amarnath Yatra scheduled to commence on June 29, security preparations have assumed critical importance. Last year, the pilgrimage attracted over 400,000 devotees traveling via routes in Jammu and Kashmir's Baltal and Pahalgam regions.

Jammu and Kashmir police are intensifying coordinated efforts to ensure the safety and security of pilgrims during this significant religious event, amidst ongoing security alerts and operational challenges.
