Angel One founder, chairman and managing director Dinesh Thakkar has reportedly acquired an entire luxury residential tower in Mumbai’s Juhu for around Rs 711 crore, making it one of the country’s biggest single-ticket residential property transactions.

The deal involves a complete eight-storey G+7 tower at Embassy Terrazza, located on Juhu Tara Road. The property has a reported RERA carpet area of approximately 63,000 square feet.

Unlike a conventional luxury-home purchase, Thakkar is buying the entire tower, which is part of a five-tower residential development spread across more than two acres.

Reports peg the transaction value at approximately Rs 1.13 lakh per square foot.

The Embassy Terrazza project is expected to feature around 50 luxury residences across the development and has an estimated gross development value of more than Rs 3,000 crore. The project is currently slated for completion by December 2031.

According to Embassy Developments, Thakkar was looking for a residence that could offer extensive privacy, large living spaces and uninterrupted views of the Arabian Sea. The property is expected to serve as a long-term family residence.

WHO IS DINESH THAKKAR?

Dinesh Thakkar is the founder and managing director of Angel One, a major Indian retail broking and financial-services company.

A Mumbai native, Thakkar grew up in Mulund in a family involved in textile trading. He studied at St John the Baptist High School in Thane before pursuing science at Kishinchand Chellaram College in Mumbai.

He eventually left formal education after Class 12 and entered the stock market, beginning a career that would later lead to the creation of Angel One.

FROM TRADITIONAL BROKERAGE TO DIGITAL FINANCE

Thakkar established Angel One in 1996, initially building the business around conventional stockbroking.

The company later underwent a major digital transformation, particularly from 2019, when it introduced an end-to-end digital investment platform.

Angel One subsequently expanded its services beyond traditional brokerage, offering customers products and services covering trading, investing and wealth-management needs.

The company made its stock-market debut in 2020, with its shares listed on both the BSE and NSE. In 2021, the business adopted the name Angel One as it increasingly positioned itself as a technology-driven financial-services platform.

Today, the company has a nationwide presence and has expanded its customer base beyond major metropolitan markets into smaller cities and towns.

THAKKAR'S LUXURY LIFESTYLE

Away from the boardroom, Thakkar has also showcased his interest in fitness, automobiles and travel on social media.

His Instagram posts frequently feature strength training and high-end automobiles. Reports have associated him with luxury performance cars including the Lamborghini Huracán Performante, Ferrari 488 Pista and Porsche GT3 RS.

His social-media presence also offers glimpses of road trips and international travel, along with photographs featuring family members during holidays and personal occasions.

The purchase of the Juhu tower adds another major luxury asset to the entrepreneur’s profile, with the property set to serve as a private family residence in one of Mumbai’s most sought-after residential locations.
