The Lok Sabha witnessed significant uproar on Tuesday following a veiled jibe by BJP MP Anurag Thakur directed at Congress and Rahul Gandhi regarding the issue of a caste census. Thakur remarked, "The one whose caste is not known is talking about the census," triggering immediate backlash.

The comment led to chaos in the House, with Rahul Gandhi interrupting Thakur's speech. Gandhi responded, "You can insult me as much as you want, but you should not forget that we will get the caste census bill passed in Parliament."

Jagdambika Pal, who was presiding over the session, attempted to restore order but was met with continuous discontent from MPs. Amid the disorder, Gandhi declared, "Whoever in this country speaks for the downtrodden and fights for them has to endure abuses. I will take all the abuses happily. Like Arjun in the Mahabharata, I can only see the fish's eye. We will get the caste census done. That's it. You can abuse me however many times you like."

Gandhi further claimed that Thakur "abused him and insulted him," but added, "I do not want an apology from him. I do not need it."

Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav also weighed in, questioning, "How can you ask someone's caste? You cannot ask anyone's caste."

The heated exchange highlighted the contentious nature of the caste census debate, bringing significant attention to the issue within the Lok Sabha.
