Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has filed his nomination papers to contest from the New Delhi constituency in the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections. In the affidavit submitted to the Election Commission, Kejriwal disclosed assets worth ₹1.73 crore, while notably revealing that he owns neither a car nor a house.

As per the affidavit, Kejriwal's movable assets are valued at ₹3.46 lakh, which includes ₹2.96 lakh in bank savings and ₹50,000 in cash. His immovable assets consist of a flat located in Ghaziabad, valued at ₹1.7 crore. Kejriwal does not hold any investments in fixed deposits, shares, mutual funds, or insurance policies.

The affidavit also highlights a significant decline in Kejriwal’s income over the years. For the financial year 2023-24, his income was reported at ₹7.21 lakh, a sharp drop from ₹44.90 lakh in 2020. His earnings primarily stem from his salary as an MLA.

On the other hand, Sunita Kejriwal, his wife and a retired government officer, declared assets amounting to ₹2.5 crore. Her movable assets include ₹1 crore, with 320 grams of gold worth ₹25 lakh and one kilogram of silver valued at ₹92,000. Sunita’s immovable property, which includes a house in Gurugram, is valued at ₹1.5 crore. Her annual income, totaling ₹14.10 lakh—double her husband’s income—comes from her pension as a retired civil servant.

The combined net worth of the couple stands at ₹4.23 crore, reflecting a consistent rise over the years. Kejriwal had declared assets worth ₹3.4 crore in 2020 and ₹2.1 crore in 2015, marking a steady growth in wealth.

Kejriwal also disclosed in his affidavit that 14 criminal cases are currently pending against him.

Ahead of filing his nomination, Kejriwal visited the Hanuman and Valmiki temples along with his wife to offer prayers. Addressing his supporters, he called upon voters to evaluate his government’s performance and the initiatives undertaken during his tenure rather than being swayed by political rhetoric.

Kejriwal, who has been representing the New Delhi constituency since 2013, is gearing up for a tough electoral battle. The elections, scheduled for February 5, will see him competing against BJP's Parvesh Verma and Congress's Sandeep Dikshit. The results are set to be announced on February 8.
