Arvind Kejriwal granted interim bail till June 1
Dr. Abhishek Manu Singhvi did the lead argument for him
10-05-2024The Supreme Court has granted interim bail to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal until June 1 in connection with a money laundering case linked to the now-scrapped Delhi liquor policy. Dr. Abhishek Manu Singhvi did the lead argument for him.
The decision came after a brief hearing on Kejriwal's plea, which challenged his arrest and requested bail to campaign for the ongoing Lok Sabha elections. Kejriwal's release is anticipated to bolster AAP's electoral prospects, particularly in Delhi and Punjab, where the party holds power.
The Delhi CM is presently in Tihar Jail and has been instructed to surrender by June 2. Additionally, the Enforcement Directorate is expected to file its first chargesheet against Kejriwal in the same case.
The development has garnered support from various political leaders, including Mamata Banerjee and Aaditya Thackeray, who see it as a victory for democracy.
