As early trends indicated a decisive BJP victory in the Delhi Assembly elections, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah took to social media to mock the INDIA alliance, particularly the Congress and AAP.

Posting a cryptic message on X, Abdullah shared a GIF with the words, "Aur lado, jee bhar ke lado, samapt kar do ek dusre ko" (Fight some more, fight to your heart’s content, finish each other off). He reinforced the sentiment in his caption, writing, "Aur lado aapas mein" (Fight each other some more), seemingly pointing to the infighting between the two opposition parties.

Congress and AAP's Disjointed Campaign

Despite contesting the Lok Sabha elections together in Delhi, Congress and AAP chose to go solo for the Assembly elections. Their rivalry was evident throughout the campaign, with leaders from both sides taking jabs at each other and even accusing the other of acting as the BJP’s "B-team."

The decision to contest separately came despite Congress’s recent debacle in Haryana, where it had been favored to win due to anti-incumbency against the BJP, which has governed the state since 2014. Analysts suggest that AAP’s presence in the fray disrupted Congress’s chances in at least six constituencies, ultimately leading to its underwhelming performance, securing just 37 seats in the 90-member Assembly.

Abdullah’s remark reflects the growing perception that disunity among opposition parties has worked in the BJP’s favor, as the ruling party edges closer to reclaiming Delhi after nearly three decades.
