An avalanche struck near Gandhi Sarovar in Kedarnath on Sunday morning, triggering widespread concern though fortunately causing no casualties or property damage. The incident occurred around 5 a.m., with video footage of the avalanche swiftly circulating on social media platforms.

Senior Superintendent of Police Dr. Vishakha Ashok Bhadane of Rudraprayag confirmed the event, emphasizing that no lives were lost nor any infrastructure harmed by the snowslide. Witnesses reported a significant amount of snow cascading down the mountain slopes, causing temporary disruption and raising dust clouds in the area. Officials, including Disaster Management Officer Nandan Singh Rajwar, assured that such avalanches are not uncommon in the region, typically occurring after substantial snowfall without resulting in significant harm.

Earlier this month, Kedarnath experienced a surge in pilgrim visits, with over 700,000 devotees recorded by June 6. This rise in tourism is part of a broader increase across the Char Dham Yatra circuit, encompassing Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri, underscoring the region's spiritual and natural allure despite occasional natural challenges like avalanches.
