The upcoming 42nd Annual India Day Parade in New York City will showcase a special tableau of the Ayodhya Ram Mandir to commemorate Indian Independence Day, announced the Federation of Indian Associations NY-NJ-CT-NE (FIA) at a preview event held at the Consulate General of India in New York.

Renowned Indian actor Pankaj Tripathi has been named Guest of Honour for the parade, which will traverse Manhattan's Madison Avenue and draw thousands from the Indian diaspora. The event, slated for August 18, celebrates India's cultural heritage with vibrant displays of the tricolour and patriotic songs.

Consul General of India in New York, Binaya Pradhan, highlighted the parade's history and pledged consulate support to showcase India's culture in the US. FIA President Dr. Avinash Gupta emphasized the parade's theme of 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam' (the world is one family).

Central to this year's parade will be an 18-foot-long replica of the Ayodhya Ram Mandir, unveiled at the event, symbolizing a historic moment for the global Indian community. The float's design and construction were showcased in a video presentation during the ceremony.

Representatives from Vishva Hindu Parishad of America (VHPA), Bochasanwasi Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha (BAPS), and Siddhivinayak Temple joined to unveil the float, echoing the cultural significance of the Ram Mandir inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in January.

FIA Chairman Ankur Vaidya outlined the organization's mission and urged community collaboration to ensure the parade's success in promoting India's rich cultural tapestry to diverse communities across New York and the tri-state area.
