The Bangladesh government expressed its strong disapproval on Monday regarding Union Home Minister Amit Shah's recent comments about Bangladeshi nationals made during his visit to Jharkhand. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Bangladesh delivered a formal protest note to India's Deputy High Commissioner in Dhaka, labeling the remarks as "highly deplorable."
Amit Shah had stated that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would take drastic measures against "Bangladeshi infiltrators" if elected in Jharkhand, claiming they would "hang every Bangladeshi infiltrator upside down to give them a lesson."
In its protest note, the Bangladeshi government conveyed its "serious reservations, deep hurt, and extreme displeasure," urging New Delhi to advise its political leaders to avoid making such "objectionable and unacceptable" statements. The Ministry emphasized that remarks of this nature from prominent officials undermine the mutual respect and understanding expected between neighboring countries.
