Today, an IndiGo flight bound for Varanasi from Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport faced a bomb threat, causing authorities to halt its departure for inspection. The flight, 6E2211, was set to depart around 5 am when a bomb threat message, reading 'BOMB BLAST @30 MINUTES,' was discovered by the pilot in the lavatory.
Promptly, the aircraft, carrying 176 passengers, was moved to an isolation bay for thorough inspection. Despite deploying a quick response team, no suspicious items were found, ensuring the safety of all passengers who were deboarded through emergency exits.
IndiGo issued an official statement, confirming the incident and stating that the aircraft was moved to a remote bay as per airport security protocols. Currently, the flight is undergoing comprehensive security checks, after which it will return to the terminal area.
This occurrence follows a recent incident where a tissue paper bearing the word 'bomb' was found on an Air India flight lavatory in Delhi, though it later turned out to be a false alarm. Similarly, several bomb threat emails targeting hospitals and schools in Delhi were determined to be hoaxes upon investigation.
