Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud sharply rebuked Advocate Mathews Nedumpara for disrupting proceedings in the Supreme Court during a hearing on alleged irregularities in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET).

The incident occurred as Nedumpara interrupted another lawyer, Narender Hooda, who was addressing the bench. When Nedumpara asserted his seniority and his role as "amicus," Chief Justice Chandrachud firmly countered, stating, "I have not appointed any amicus."

Despite the warning, Nedumpara persisted and threatened to leave if he wasn't respected. This led the Chief Justice to demand his removal, stating, "Mr. Nedumpara, you will not speak to the gallery. I am in charge of the court." Nedumpara eventually exited the courtroom but returned later, expressing his apologies and using a Biblical reference, "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing."

This confrontation is not Nedumpara’s first clash with the Chief Justice. Earlier in March, during the Electoral Bonds case, Nedumpara was similarly reprimanded for his disruptive behavior. Chief Justice Chandrachud had previously instructed him to follow court protocols and avoid unnecessary interruptions.
