Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke was arrested by Delhi Police on October 16 under preventive provisions ahead of planned protests in the capital. AISA president Neha Bora, who was detained the same evening, was later released after police completed the required formalities.

Police said Dipke was detained under Sections 126 and 170 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) over concerns about a possible breach of public peace. He is scheduled to be produced before a Special Executive Magistrate (SEM) on Saturday.

According to police, Dipke had received two notices directing him not to visit Central Park in Connaught Place but allegedly failed to comply. Officials are also expected to tell the magistrate that he violated the terms of a peace bond furnished during an earlier preventive arrest. The bond reportedly required him to maintain public peace for a year and was valued at Rs 50,000.

The action came ahead of planned Tiranga and anti-Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) protests in New Delhi.

CJP Questions Grounds for Arrest

CJP alleged that police took Dipke to an undisclosed location and initially left party members unable to contact him. The organisation also claimed he was denied access to lawyers.

In a post on X, the party said Dipke had been carrying the national flag when he left home and questioned the police action. It later wrote to the station house officer of Mandir Marg police station, seeking details of his whereabouts, the legal provisions invoked and the authority that ordered his detention.

Party leader Rohan Deshpande also urged police to ensure Dipke could contact colleagues and consult legal counsel.

AISA Alleges Bora Was Shifted Between Locations

AISA said Bora's whereabouts remained unclear for hours before she was traced to the RK Puram police station. The organisation alleged she had been moved between locations across Delhi for nearly five hours.

AISA further claimed that lawyers who reached the station around midnight were denied access to her and that police had not allowed medication to be provided, despite her reportedly being unwell.

The organisation demanded clarity on the grounds for her detention and the timing of her release. Police later released Bora after completing formalities under Section 65 of the Delhi Police Act, according to officials.

AISA had earlier alleged that Bora was taken to an Anti-Narcotics Task Force facility in Delhi's South-West district before being moved elsewhere.

Two CJP Leaders Sent to Tihar Jail

Dipke's arrest follows action against CJP leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka earlier in the week. The two were sent to Tihar Jail for five days over allegations that they violated peace bonds and entered Jantar Mantar without authorisation.

The developments come amid planned demonstrations in the capital and police restrictions on protest activity at designated locations.
