Tibetan spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, celebrated his 89th birthday with gratitude and determination to continue serving the teachings of Lord Buddha, despite recovering from a recent knee-replacement surgery in the United States.
In a heartfelt message shared from his office, the Dalai Lama expressed his appreciation for the prayers and well-wishes from Tibetans worldwide on his birthday. Despite minor discomfort in his legs, a result of his age, he reassured everyone of his overall good health and encouraged them to remain joyful and relaxed.
"I am nearly 90 years old now, but apart from some slight discomfort in my legs, I feel physically fit. I want to thank all my fellow Tibetans, both inside and outside Tibet, for their prayers and celebrations on my birthday," he conveyed in the message.
Acknowledging the celebrations held in Mcleodganj, India, with dignitaries including Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang and other notable figures in attendance, the Dalai Lama emphasized his commitment to his lifelong mission of spreading the teachings of Buddha.
"Throughout my life as the Dalai Lama, I have strived to contribute to the well-being of people in Tibet and around the world through the teachings of Buddha. Despite challenges, I am determined to continue this service with all my heart," he affirmed.
The Tibetan government in exile also extended their wishes for the Dalai Lama's long life and reiterated their commitment to the cause of Tibet, hoping for a future where Tibetans can reunite both within and outside Tibet.
The Dalai Lama's birthday celebration highlighted not only his personal resilience but also the enduring support and reverence he commands among Tibetan communities and global admirers alike. His message resonated with a call for peace, wisdom, and spiritual fulfillment in the face of ongoing challenges and aspirations for a harmonious future.
