In response to worsening air quality, physical classes for students of Classes 10 and 12 will also be suspended in Delhi and Gurugram, following Supreme Court directives to halt in-person classes for all students up to Class 12.
Delhi Chief Minister Atishi announced the decision on X, stating, "From tomorrow, physical classes for Class 10 and 12 will be suspended, and all classes will move online." This comes after Delhi's 24-hour Air Quality Index (AQI) hit 493 on Monday evening, the highest of the season so far, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).
The city's air quality deteriorated to the 'severe plus' category for the second consecutive day, prompting the implementation of anti-pollution measures under Stage 4 of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP).
Previously, physical classes for all students except those in Classes 10 and 12 were suspended shortly after these measures were put into effect in the Delhi-NCR region on Sunday evening.
