Delhi High Court Denies Relief to Former WFI Chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh in Sexual Harassment Case
The Delhi High Court has declined to grant any relief to Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, the former president of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI), who is facing charges of sexual harassment and outraging the modesty of women. The court directed Singh’s lawyer to submit a concise note detailing all arguments for quashing the case against him.
Singh is challenging the First Information Report (FIR), chargesheet, and the trial court's decision to frame charges against him. The petition contests the ongoing legal proceedings connected to complaints made by several female wrestlers.
Singh has argued that the investigation was biased, claiming that only the victims’ version was considered, and that the chargesheet was filed without properly examining the alleged falsehoods in the accusations.
Brij Bhushan, a six-time Member of Parliament representing Gonda, Balrampur, and Kaiserganj, was barred from contesting in this year’s Lok Sabha elections due to the allegations against him. He also stepped down from his role as WFI chief amid the controversy.
