Delhi High Court Grants Bail to Amit Arora and Amandeep Singh Dhall in Excise Policy Money Laundering Case

The Delhi High Court has granted regular bail to businessmen Amit Arora and Amandeep Singh Dhall in connection with the PMLA case tied to the now-scrapped Delhi Excise Policy

The Delhi High Court has granted regular bail to businessmen Amit Arora and Amandeep Singh Dhall in a case under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) connected to the scrapped Delhi Excise Policy. With this ruling, all individuals accused in the Enforcement Directorate's (ED) investigation into the case have now secured bail.

The court's decision was delivered by Justice Neena Bansal Krishna, providing relief to Arora, director of Buddy Retail Pvt Ltd, and Dhall, director of Brindco Sales Pvt Ltd. Both were linked to alleged irregularities in the 2021-22 Delhi Excise Policy, which was withdrawn in September 2022 amidst corruption allegations.

The ED and Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had accused several individuals, including Arora and Dhall, of receiving undue favours in the policy modification and managing illicit funds. Amit Arora was arrested in November 2022, with the CBI citing his alleged ties to former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia. Dhall, arrested in March, was accused of facilitating kickbacks to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) through a cartel referred to as the "South Group."

While both men have been granted bail in the money laundering case, Dhall's bail plea in the related corruption case remains pending before the Supreme Court.
