On Saturday, the Delhi High Court issued a notice to Sunita Kejriwal, wife of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, instructing her to remove video recordings of court proceedings where the Chief Minister addressed the court following his arrest in the liquor policy case.

The Division Bench, consisting of Justices Neena Bansal Krishna and Amit Sharma, also directed social media platforms X, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube to take down similar content whenever it comes to their attention. Additionally, the court ordered various other social media accounts to remove the video.

This order was given while hearing a public interest litigation (PIL) filed by advocate Vaibhav Singh. The video in question is from March 28, when Kejriwal addressed Special Judge (PC Act) Kaveri Baweja after being produced in court for the second time following his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate.

Advocate Vaibhav Singh contended that several social media accounts linked to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and other opposition groups recorded and posted the court proceedings. Sunita Kejriwal also reposted an audio recording uploaded by an X user.

Singh argued that recording court proceedings violates the "High Court of Delhi Rules for Video Conferencing for Courts 2021" and that making these recordings public was an attempt to damage the reputation of the judiciary and its judges. He suggested that posting such videos was part of a conspiracy by Arvind Kejriwal and the AAP to malign the judiciary.
