Devendra Fadnavis Sworn In as Maharashtra Chief Minister for Third Term
Devendra Fadnavis has taken oath as Maharashtra's Chief Minister for the third time, solidifying his leadership in the state
05-12-2024Devendra Fadnavis took the oath as Maharashtra’s Chief Minister on Thursday evening, ending nearly two weeks of intense political negotiations and uncertainty over the top position in the state. The BJP leader's appointment comes after a power-sharing deal within the Mahayuti alliance, which secured a resounding victory in the recent assembly elections.
Sena leader Eknath Shinde and NCP’s Ajit Pawar, key figures in the alliance’s electoral success, have been sworn in as Deputy Chief Ministers, continuing the 1+2 leadership formula. However, the arrangement has seen a significant shift with Fadnavis reclaiming the top post.
With this, Fadnavis has become a three-time Chief Minister and is also a six-time MLA, further solidifying his stature as one of Maharashtra's prominent political leaders.
