Prime Minister Narendra Modi today celebrated the Mahayuti alliance's commanding victory in Maharashtra, emphasizing the importance of adhering to core values over opportunistic politics. Addressing party workers at the BJP headquarters in Delhi, where jubilant supporters gathered to mark the win, he took aim at the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance, labeling it a last-minute coalition born out of self-interest.
"The people of Maharashtra have rejected the Congress-led conspiracy and stood for stability. India's mantra remains clear: when united, we are secure," PM Modi declared, stressing the need for a cohesive and focused government free from conflicting agendas.
He also criticized the Congress, asserting that it could no longer succeed independently and often drags its allies down when it falters, referencing the MVA's performance in Maharashtra.
"The Congress has become synonymous with family-centric politics. Regardless of how hard its workers strive, the family always claims the credit. Many senior citizens who remember the old Congress are searching for that party today," he remarked.
The Mahayuti coalition, comprising the BJP, Eknath Shinde's Shiv Sena faction, and Ajit Pawar's NCP faction, secured 236 out of 288 seats in the Maharashtra Assembly, leaving the MVA with only 48 seats.
Meanwhile, in Jharkhand, the BJP-led NDA fell short against the INDIA alliance, which includes Chief Minister Hemant Soren's Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), the Congress, and the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD). Despite their Maharashtra triumph, the NDA could not overcome the INDIA bloc's dominance in the eastern state.
