Elon Musk Donates to Pro-Trump Political Group Amidst Rising Fundraising Battle
Elon Musk has reportedly made a substantial donation to a political group supporting Donald Trump's presidential campaign, according to Bloomberg
13-07-2024Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and chairperson of X, has made a significant donation to a political group aiming to re-elect Republican Donald Trump, according to a report by Bloomberg. While the exact amount remains undisclosed, sources have described it as "sizeable."
Previously, Musk had stated he would not financially support either Trump or President Joe Biden. However, he has now contributed to America PAC (Political Action Committee), which is set to reveal its list of donors on Monday, July 15.
This development has drawn attention due to Musk’s immigrant background and Trump's strict anti-immigration stance. Despite the donation, Musk has not publicly endorsed any candidate.
This donation comes at a time when Trump has surpassed Biden in fundraising, with substantial backing from Wall Street and corporate donors, according to Bloomberg. Biden’s fundraising efforts have slowed, particularly after a challenging debate with Trump that has raised concerns about his health. Some Democrats have even urged Biden to reconsider his re-election bid.
In March, Trump met with Musk and other donors, although Musk later denied media reports suggesting he might take on an advisory role if Trump were to win the presidency.
James Singer, a spokesperson for Biden’s campaign, responded by stating, "Musk knows Trump is a sucker who will sell America out, cutting his taxes while raising taxes on the middle class by $2,500. Joe Biden has been standing up to people like Elon and fighting for the middle class his entire career -- and it's why he'll win in November."
