Billionaire Elon Musk took a jab at Microsoft, posting a laughing emoji in response to a significant disruption in the tech giant's cloud services that caused widespread flight delays and affected numerous businesses and banks.

Musk retweeted a cryptic tweet from 2021 where he humorously compared Microsoft to a fictitious company named "Macrohard," stating, "Macrohard >> Microsoft." In another tweet, he shared a laughing emoji alongside a meme highlighting that despite other services crashing, X (formerly Twitter) remained operational. "Everything else is down, but this app still works?" the post quipped.

The disruption affected Microsoft's Azure cloud and Microsoft 365 services. Airlines, banks, telecom companies, and broadcasters experienced issues, with many Windows workstations displaying the blue screen of death error.

Microsoft responded by rerouting impacted traffic to an alternate system and reported seeing improvements in service availability. However, some services were still down.

The cloud service disruption severely impacted major Indian airlines such as SpiceJet, IndiGo, Air India, Vistara, and Akasa Air, causing issues with booking, check-in, and flight updates. Airlines resorted to issuing handwritten boarding passes as a temporary measure.

In the United States, Frontier Airlines canceled 147 flights and delayed over 200. Sun Country and Allegiant reported delays for 45 percent and 27 percent of their total flights, respectively.
