A devastating accident in Pune claimed the lives of a couple on Saturday evening when their motorcycle was hit by a speeding Porsche car allegedly driven by a 17-year-old. The minor, son of a prominent builder, was accompanied by two others in the Porsche, all of whom were taken into police custody.

Despite the severity of the incident, the minor was granted bail by a district court within 14 hours of detention, as the court deemed the crime not to be serious. The accident occurred in Pune's Koregaon Park, where the victims, Anis Dudhiya and his wife Ashwini Costa, both hailing from Rajasthan, were returning home from a pub in Kalyani Nagar.

According to the FIR, the Porsche collided with the couple's motorcycle at the Kalyani Nagar junction, causing them to fall and succumb to their injuries on the spot. Subsequently, the car crashed into the roadside railings.

A video circulating on social media showed bystanders confronting the driver as he attempted to exit the wrecked vehicle. Eyewitnesses described the car's speed to be between 200-240 km/hour at the time of the accident.

The Pune police registered a case against the accused under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including abetment of suicide, rash driving, causing death by negligence, and others, along with provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act. Additionally, legal action was initiated against the minor's father and the establishment that served him alcohol, under the Juvenile Justice Act.

Commissioner Amitesh Kumar affirmed the stringent measures taken by the authorities in response to the tragic incident.
