Champai Soren, the former Chief Minister of Jharkhand, will join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on August 30 in Ranchi, as confirmed by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. Sarma shared the announcement on social media, highlighting Soren's recent meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

Soren's decision follows a period of speculation about his political future, especially after he visited Delhi with some MLAs on August 18. At that time, he expressed disappointment over the cancellation of his events and discussions about his resignation from the Chief Minister position.

Previously, Soren had indicated he might retire from politics or form a new party. However, he later confirmed his intention to remain active in politics, either by building a new organization or aligning with another party.

Soren, who assumed the role of Jharkhand Chief Minister temporarily after Hemant Soren's arrest in January, resigned in July after Hemant Soren was granted bail.
