A tragic incident in Madhya Pradesh's Morena district left four people dead and several others injured after an express train collided with passengers who had disembarked from a stationary train near a railway station on Sunday.

The accident occurred in the vicinity of Hetampur railway station within the Jhansi railway division. According to initial reports, a passenger train had come to a stop during its journey when several travellers got down and moved near or onto an adjacent track.

While they were outside the train, another express service travelling on a neighbouring line passed through the area and struck some of the passengers.

Authorities confirmed that four people lost their lives in the incident, including a child. Several others sustained injuries and were provided medical assistance.

Rescue Teams Rushed to the Spot

Following the accident, railway officials, personnel from the Railway Protection Force (RPF), Government Railway Police (GRP) and local administration teams reached the site to oversee rescue and relief efforts.

Emergency assistance was provided to affected passengers, while officials worked to manage the situation and ensure the injured received prompt care.

Investigation Underway

Railway authorities have initiated a detailed inquiry to determine the exact sequence of events and identify the circumstances that led to the tragedy.

Officials are examining all aspects of the incident, including passenger movement near the tracks and operational conditions at the time of the accident.

Railways Issue Safety Reminder

In the aftermath of the incident, railway authorities urged passengers to follow safety protocols while travelling.

Officials emphasised that passengers should avoid getting off trains at unauthorised locations or stepping onto railway tracks, whether a train is moving or stationary. They reiterated that adherence to safety guidelines is essential to prevent such accidents.

The incident has once again highlighted the dangers associated with unauthorised movement near railway tracks and the need for increased awareness regarding passenger safety.

Further details are expected to emerge as the investigation progresses and authorities complete their assessment of the accident.
