Full List of Ministers Who Took Oath in Narendra Modi's Third Term as Prime Minister

Narendra Modi makes history by becoming the second Prime Minister to serve three consecutive terms, swearing in 72 leaders as part of his new Cabinet

Narendra Modi, the leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), was sworn in as the Prime Minister of India for the third consecutive term on Sunday. This is a significant event as it marks the first time since Jawaharlal Nehru, India's first Prime Minister, that a Prime Minister has returned for a third term. A total of 72 leaders were inducted into the Modi 3.0 ministry on this historic day.

The new Cabinet includes 30 Cabinet ministers, five Ministers of State with Independent Charge, and 36 Ministers of State.

Among those sworn in were:

  • Rajnath Singh: Continues his role from the previous government, previously serving as Union Defence Minister.
  • Amit Shah: Retains his position after serving as the Union Home Minister in the Modi 2.0 government.
  • Nitin Gadkari: Continues his role, having previously served as Union Minister of Road and Transport.
  • JP Nadda: The BJP national chief, is a new entrant to the Cabinet.
  • Shivraj Singh Chouhan: The former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, now a Cabinet minister.
  • Nirmala Sitharaman: Continues as a Cabinet minister, having previously managed the Finance portfolio.
  • Dr. S Jaishankar: Continues as External Affairs Minister.
  • Manohar Lal Khattar: Former Haryana Chief Minister, now a Cabinet minister.
  • HD Kumaraswamy: Chief of JD(S), joins the Cabinet.
  • Piyush Goyal: Recently secured his first Lok Sabha term and joins as a Union Minister.
  • Dharmendra Pradhan: Continues his role from the previous government.
  • Jitan Ram Manjhi: Founder of Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular), joins the Cabinet.
  • Rajiv Ranjan (Lalan) Singh: Leader from JD(U), inducted as a Cabinet minister.
  • Sarbananda Sonowal: BJP leader from Assam, joins the Cabinet.
  • Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu: Telugu Desam Party leader, now a Union Minister.
  • Dr. Virendra Kumar: Joins as a Cabinet Minister.
  • Jual Oram: Returns as a Union Minister.
  • Pralhad Joshi: Joins the Cabinet.
  • Ashwini Vaishnaw: Retains his role, previously overseeing Railways.
  • Giriraj Singh: Continues as a Union Minister.
  • Jyotiraditya Scindia: Begins his fifth term in Lok Sabha and joins the Cabinet.
  • Bhupendra Yadav: Previously Union Cabinet Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, continues in the Cabinet.
  • Gajendra Singh Shekhawat: Re-elected from Jodhpur, joins as a Cabinet Minister.
  • Annapurna Devi: BJP leader, now a Union Minister.
  • Kiren Rijiju: Long-serving Cabinet member, continues his role.
  • Mansukh Mandaviya: Previously Health and Family Welfare Minister, continues in the Cabinet.
  • Hardeep Singh Puri: Rajya Sabha member since 2018, joins the Cabinet.
  • GK Reddy: Inducted as a Union Minister.
  • Chirag Paswan: LJP-RV leader, joins the Cabinet.
  • CR Patil: Inducted as a Union Minister.

The NDA secured 293 out of 543 seats in the 2024 Lok Sabha election, with the BJP winning 240 seats. Despite being short of the majority mark of 272, the NDA coalition enabled Narendra Modi to return as Prime Minister for a third term.
