Billionaire industrialist Gautam Adani made significant strides in expanding Adani Group's footprint in Bhutan during his recent visit to the Himalayan kingdom. Adani met with Bhutan's Prime Minister, Dasho Tshering Tobgay, and King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck in Thimphu, where they announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for a major green hydroelectric power project.
In a statement following the meeting, Gautam Adani expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating, "Absolutely fascinating meeting with Dasho Tshering Tobgay, Hon. Prime Minister of Bhutan. Adani praised Bhutan's commitment to sustainable development, noting the alignment of Adani Group's goals with Bhutan's vision under King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck's leadership.
The Adani Group chairman also shared his admiration for Bhutan's ambitious plans, particularly the eco-friendly masterplan for Gelephu Mindfulness City. This visionary initiative includes the development of large computing centers and data facilities aimed at enhancing Bhutan's digital infrastructure.
"Honoured to meet His Majesty King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck of Bhutan. Inspired by his vision for Bhutan and the ambitious eco-friendly masterplan for Gelephu Mindfulness City, including large computing centers and data facilities. Adani expressed in a post on Instagram, underscoring his commitment to supporting Bhutan's sustainable growth.
This recent development builds on Adani Group's ongoing efforts to expand its presence in neighboring countries, focusing on green infrastructure and energy solutions.
