A 32-year-old domestic worker named Reena was arrested in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, on Wednesday after being accused of mixing urine in the flour dough used to make chapatis for her employers. The incident was reported after one of her employers filmed her urinating in a utensil and adding it to the dough. The video went viral on social media, prompting public outrage.

During interrogation, Reena admitted to the act, citing frustration over her employer's constant supervision and scolding for minor mistakes. A case has been filed under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS), and authorities are investigating if she has any prior criminal record.

This follows a similar incident last month in Ghaziabad, where a juice vendor was arrested for allegedly serving drinks contaminated with urine.

In response to such cases, the Uttar Pradesh government is working on new ordinances to curb food contamination, with penalties including up to 10 years of imprisonment for spitting or mixing waste in food./p>
