With Rohit Sharma retiring from T20I cricket after leading India to victory in the ICC T20 World Cup, all-rounder Hardik Pandya is set to take over as the new T20I captain. This transition marks a new era for the Indian cricket team, allowing the next generation of players to step into more significant roles.

Pandya's appointment is expected to bring fresh energy and innovative strategies to the team. Known for his leadership in the IPL, where he has successfully captained his team, Pandya has also proven himself at the international level. Whenever Rohit Sharma has taken breaks for workload management, Pandya has stepped in as captain, leading India to victory in 10 out of 16 T20Is, with five losses and one tie.

In the recent T20 World Cup, Pandya's all-round performance was crucial, as he scored 144 runs at an average of 48.00 and took 11 wickets. His standout moments included a top score of 50* and best bowling figures of 3/20. Despite facing criticism and fan backlash during the IPL 2024 season while captaining Mumbai Indians, Pandya’s overall contributions have underscored his capability to handle pressure and lead effectively.

Additionally, the BCCI has announced Gautam Gambhir as the new head coach for the Indian men's cricket team. Gambhir, a former Indian opener and recent mentor for the Kolkata Knight Riders, led KKR to their third IPL title in the 2024 season. BCCI Secretary Jay Shah expressed confidence in Gambhir’s leadership, citing his deep understanding of the modern game and his proven track record both on and off the field.
