Delhi woke up to significant waterlogging and massive traffic disruptions today after heavy rain lashed the city overnight. Major areas, including the Mehrauli-Badarpur road, the Parade Road Underpass in the Cantonment area, and parts of Dhaula Kuan, experienced severe waterlogging, leading to slow traffic and delays.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported that the minimum temperature was recorded at 23 degrees Celsius, three degrees below the seasonal average. Humidity levels hit 100 percent at 8:30 am.

The Safdarjung Observatory, which serves as a key weather station for Delhi, recorded 77.1 mm of rainfall over the past 24 hours until 8:30 am. Other stations in the city also reported heavy rainfall, with Lodhi Road recording 92.2 mm, Palam 54.5 mm, Ayanagar 62.4 mm, and Ridge 18.2 mm, according to the IMD.

Delhi Traffic Police shared updates on social media, warning commuters about waterlogged roads and advising them to plan their routes accordingly. Traffic was disrupted on both sides of GTK Road, between Mukarba Chowk and Azadpur Chowk, due to waterlogging near the GTK Depot. The MB Road stretch between Khanpur and Shooting Range T-Point and the Nangloi to Tikri Border carriageway of Rohtak Road were also affected.

Despite the downpour, Delhi's Air Quality Index (AQI) remained in the "satisfactory" category, with a reading of 60 at 9 am, as reported by the Central Pollution Control Board.
