A spell of intense rain brought traffic to a standstill on National Highway-8 in Gurugram on Monday evening, leaving commuters stranded for hours. The downpour, which lasted nearly four hours, caused severe waterlogging across the Millennium City, leading to massive congestion near the Delhi-Gurugram border.
Clips shared online showed endless lines of vehicles crawling along the flooded highway, with jams stretching several kilometres. Frustrated motorists struggled to manoeuvre through waterlogged stretches, as the evening commute turned into an ordeal.
Congress leader Randeep Surjewala posted a video of the gridlock on X, ridiculing Haryana’s BJP government and its so-called “triple engine mode.” He alleged that merely two hours of rainfall resulted in a 20-km traffic jam and accused the state of failing to prepare for monsoon showers.
