Himachal Pradesh Mandates Food Vendors to Display Owners' Names and Addresses
The Himachal Pradesh government has ordered all food vendors and eateries to clearly display the names and addresses of their owners for customer convenience
25-09-2024The Congress-led government in Himachal Pradesh has issued a directive requiring all food vendors and eateries in the state to prominently display the names and addresses of their owners. This decision was made during a meeting of the state's Urban Development and Municipal Corporation on Tuesday.
The order mirrors a similar rule recently implemented in Uttar Pradesh, where food and drink establishments must also clearly display the names and addresses of their operators, proprietors, or managers.
Himachal Pradesh Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania has established a seven-member committee to oversee the execution of this directive, which includes Ministers Vikramaditya Singh and Anirudh Singh.
At the meeting, Vikramaditya Singh noted that new laws will also be introduced for street vendors, including the issuance of identity cards.
The recent regulations in Himachal Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh follow the controversy surrounding the Tirupati laddu. A lab report revealed that the famous prasad offered at the Tirupati temple in Andhra Pradesh contained animal fats and fish oil, sparking widespread concern. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu accused the previous YSR Congress government of using substandard ingredients in the preparation of the laddu.
