13-12-2024Telugu superstar Allu Arjun has been placed in 14-day judicial custody following a case filed by the family of a woman who lost her life in a stampede during the premiere of his film Pushpa 2: The Rise. The incident, which took place at Hyderabad’s Sandhya Theatre on December 4, led to the tragic death of 35-year-old Revathi and injuries to her eight-year-old son.
In a recent development, Revathi's husband, Bhaskar, told reporters that he is willing to withdraw the case. "I was not informed about the arrest, and Allu Arjun has no connection to the stampede that claimed my wife’s life," he stated, as per information shared by the actor’s public relations team.
The stampede occurred when large crowds of fans gathered to catch a glimpse of the actor at the premiere event. Revathi and her son were taken to the hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
Allu Arjun was detained from his residence under tight security and taken to Chikkadpally police station before being presented in court. A case was filed against him and the theatre management under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) based on the complaint lodged by Revathi’s family.
Meanwhile, the actor has sought legal recourse, filing a petition in the Telangana High Court on December 11 to quash the First Information Report (FIR) registered against him.
