The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast active monsoon conditions over Peninsular and adjoining Central India for the next 4-5 days, anticipating significant rainfall with isolated instances of extremely heavy precipitation. A low-pressure area has formed over the Northwest and Westcentral Bay of Bengal, extending up to 7.6 km above sea level and tilting southwestward. Additionally, an offshore trough runs along the south Gujarat-north Kerala coasts at sea level.
Specifically, Kerala & Mahe are expected to witness isolated extremely heavy rainfall on July 15, while regions including Konkan & Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Gujarat, Coastal Karnataka, and South Interior Karnataka may experience similar conditions on July 15-16. Saurashtra & Kutch could encounter isolated extremely heavy rainfall on July 16.
IMD has issued alerts for heavy rainfall across Tamil Nadu, North Interior Karnataka, Marathwada, Vidarbha, South Chhattisgarh on July 15, with West Madhya Pradesh likely to experience heavy rainfall on July 15-16. Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Telangana may face isolated very heavy rainfall on July 15, 18, and 19, while Odisha is expected to see isolated very heavy rainfall on July 15 and 19.
Uttarakhand and East Rajasthan are forecasted to receive heavy rainfall on July 17-18 and July 18 respectively. Fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms is predicted over various regions including Konkan & Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Kerala & Mahe, Karnataka, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Telangana, and Rayalaseema. In East and Northeast India, similar rainfall patterns are expected over Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, Northeast India, Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal, Bihar, and Jharkhand.
