IMD Issues Yellow Alert for Bengaluru: More Rains and Thundershowers Expected
Bengaluru braces for continued rainfall as IMD issues a yellow alert, forecasting thundershowers over the next five days
02-06-2024After Bengaluru was hit by heavy rains on Saturday, leading to severe traffic snarls and waterlogging across the city, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert, forecasting continued rainfall over the next five days. The alert predicts thundershowers in certain areas, bringing further weather challenges for the Karnataka capital.
According to the IMD, Bengaluru will experience cloudy skies with intermittent spells of rain and thundershowers from June 2 (Sunday) to June 4 (Tuesday), followed by rain on June 5 and 6. Despite the wet weather, the city recorded a maximum temperature of 33.8 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature on Sunday was 26.9 degrees Celsius.
The rainy weather is not confined to Karnataka alone. Kerala is also bracing for a week of rain, with Kozhikode expected to see rain and thundershowers from June 2 to June 8. Temperatures in Kozhikode are forecast to range between 35 degrees and 25 degrees Celsius during this period.
In Tamil Nadu, Chennai is anticipated to experience light to moderate rain spells. The IMD reports that Chennai will likely have partly cloudy skies with occasional light rain. The maximum temperature in Chennai is expected to hover around 34 to 35 degrees Celsius, with a minimum temperature of about 29 degrees Celsius.
As the weather continues to be unpredictable, residents in these southern states are advised to stay updated with the latest forecasts and take necessary precautions.
