Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri announced on Monday that India and China have reached a consensus to disengage along their border and resume patrolling the Line of Actual Control (LAC). This important development comes just ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's upcoming trip to Russia for the 16th BRICS Summit, set for October 22-23.

Misri stated, "Following discussions over the past few weeks, an agreement has been reached concerning patrol arrangements along the LAC in the India-China border region. This will facilitate disengagement and ultimately lead to the resolution of issues that arose in these areas in 2020."

When questioned about the possibility of a bilateral meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping during the BRICS Summit, Misri responded, "Diplomatic and military talks between India and China have been taking place in recent weeks. We are still finalizing the timing and specifics for any potential bilateral interactions."

This story is still developing and will be updated as more information becomes available.
