As the clock struck midnight, India erupted in vibrant celebrations to welcome the year 2025. Across the country, streets, beaches, iconic landmarks, and homes came alive with revelry. From dazzling decorations in major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Chennai to cheerful gatherings in homes and public spaces, the joyous occasion united millions.

People of all ages participated in cultural events, street parties, and religious ceremonies, marking the transition with prayers and blessings. Popular spots like pubs, restaurants, and sea beaches were bustling with crowds, while others thronged temples and churches to seek divine blessings for the New Year.

In preparation, security forces ensured safety across cities, with Delhi deploying 20,000 personnel to maintain order. The festivities extended beyond India as the world bid farewell to 2024.

Global New Year Celebrations

New Zealand’s Auckland led the world into 2025 with a spectacular fireworks display at the Sky Tower. Other major cities, including Sydney, Tokyo, and Beijing, followed with their own stunning celebrations. Sydney’s iconic harbour lit up with a world-renowned display that drew massive crowds.

In Japan, the traditional Joya no Kane ceremony—ringing temple bells 108 times—marked the occasion, while bustling markets saw shoppers preparing for the new year. Meanwhile, festivities in South Korea were scaled back as the nation mourned the victims of a tragic air accident.

Rome’s New Year celebrations coincided with the launch of Pope Francis’ Holy Year, expected to draw millions of pilgrims to the city. In Paris, the Champs-Elysees hosted its annual fireworks and countdown, and London’s River Thames was illuminated by a stunning display, followed by a grand New Year’s parade.

As 2025 begins, the world unites in hope and celebration, embracing a fresh chapter filled with optimism and joy.
