Team India continued their dominance over arch-rivals Pakistan, securing a thumping 88-run victory in their Women’s World Cup 2025 encounter in Colombo. Defending a total of 248, the Indian bowlers produced a stellar performance to dismiss Pakistan for just 159 runs.

Pacer Kranti Gaud led the attack with an impressive three-wicket haul, while the rest of the bowling unit maintained tight control throughout the innings. Earlier, India’s batting lineup had posted a competitive total, thanks to Harleen Deol’s composed 46 and Richa Ghosh’s explosive 35 off just 20 balls, which provided late momentum.

The match saw a moment of controversy when Pakistan opener Muneeba Ali was run out in a strange and unexpected fashion, sparking debate among fans and commentators. Adding to the drama, play was interrupted twice during India’s innings due to a sudden swarm of insects invading the field at the R Premadasa Stadium.

In another notable moment, India captain Harmanpreet Kaur and Pakistan skipper Fatima Sana once again refrained from the customary handshake at the toss — a continuation of the long-standing on-field rivalry between the two sides.

With this result, India have now extended their perfect record against Pakistan in Women’s ODIs to 12-0, further cementing their supremacy in one of cricket’s most anticipated rivalries.
