India Denounces Iranian Supreme Leader’s Remarks on Muslim Suffering

16-09-2024India has issued a strong response to comments made by Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, about the alleged suffering of Muslims in India. Khamenei's remarks, delivered on the occasion of Prophet Mohammed's birth anniversary, highlighted what he described as the suffering of Muslim communities in various regions, including India, Gaza, and Myanmar.
In his statement on X, Khamenei said, "We cannot consider ourselves to be Muslims if we are oblivious to the suffering that a Muslim is enduring in Myanmar, Gaza, India, or any other place."
India's Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) swiftly rejected these comments, calling them "misinformed and unacceptable." The MEA's official statement emphasized India's displeasure with the remarks and advised nations making critical observations about the treatment of minorities to first review their own human rights records. "Countries commenting on minorities are advised to look at their own record before making any observations about others," the statement concluded.
