India has strongly refuted claims made by China’s state-run media outlet Global Times, accusing it of spreading false information regarding Indian air operations targeting terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
The Indian Embassy in Beijing urged Global Times to double-check its sources and verify facts after it reported that three Indian fighter jets had been downed by Pakistan following India’s retaliatory strikes. The embassy termed the report baseless and misleading, stressing the importance of journalistic integrity.
"When media outlets circulate unverified claims, especially during sensitive situations, it reflects a serious disregard for journalistic ethics and public responsibility," the Indian mission posted on social platform X.
The Indian military’s coordinated strikes — which involved the Army, Navy, and Air Force — were in response to the April 22 terror assault in Pahalgam, which killed 26 civilians, many of whom were tourists. According to government sources, more than 80 terrorists were eliminated during the precision attacks conducted under the codename "Operation Sindoor."
India clarified that despite waiting two weeks, Islamabad had taken no meaningful action to dismantle the terror infrastructure operating from its territory. In light of Pakistan’s inaction, India said it was compelled to act.
The embassy also emphasized that the strikes were carefully calibrated to avoid escalation. “The actions were proportionate, deliberate, and focused strictly on terror bases. They were conducted in a responsible manner,” the statement read.
India also cautioned against the spread of false narratives and recycled images circulating on social media, pointing out that several pro-Pakistan accounts were attempting to distort the facts about Operation Sindoor.
