Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin inaugurated a stunning glass bridge connecting the Vivekananda Rock Memorial and the iconic 133-foot Thiruvalluvar statue off the coast of Kanyakumari on Monday evening.

The newly built bridge, spanning 77 meters in length and 10 meters in width, is the first of its kind in India. It offers visitors breathtaking views of the sea and the two historic monuments, creating a unique experience of walking above the water. "The glass bridge provides a thrilling and enchanting experience for tourists," said a tourism official.

A Landmark Project for Kanyakumari

Constructed at a cost of ₹37 crore by the Tamil Nadu government, the project marks a milestone for the region and was inaugurated during the silver jubilee of the unveiling of the Thiruvalluvar statue by former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi.

The bowstring arch glass bridge has been specially designed to resist the effects of the saline coastal breeze, ensuring durability and safety for visitors. It is expected to become a major tourist attraction at the southernmost tip of India, often referred to as the "Land’s End."

Grand Inauguration Ceremony

Following the inauguration, Chief Minister Stalin, accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, Member of Parliament Kanimozhi, state ministers, and senior officials, walked across the bridge to experience its grandeur. The event also featured a captivating laser light show at the Thiruvalluvar statue, adding to the celebratory atmosphere.

The glass bridge is set to boost tourism in Kanyakumari, offering a unique blend of architectural brilliance and scenic beauty, while paying homage to the region's cultural and historical significance.
