A 59-year-old Indian-American man, Hemant Shantilal Mistry, died after being punched at a motel parking lot in Oklahoma last week. The incident occurred on the night of June 22, near Interstate 40 and Meridian Avenue, according to police reports.

Mistry, originally from Gujarat and working as a motel manager, confronted 41-year-old Richard Lewis, asking him to leave the property. The confrontation quickly turned violent when Lewis allegedly punched Mistry in the face.

A video of the assault, which has gone viral on social media, shows Mistry in a white t-shirt arguing with Lewis, who is wearing a sky-blue t-shirt. The argument escalates before Lewis punches Mistry, causing him to collapse. Lewis then walked away from the scene.

Police arrived around 10:00 pm to find Mistry unconscious. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but succumbed to his injuries at 7:40 pm the following day.

Richard Lewis was arrested shortly after the incident at a hotel on S. Meridian Avenue. He is currently held at the Oklahoma County Jail on a $100,000 bond, facing charges of aggravated assault and battery.

The motive behind Lewis's refusal to leave the premises remains unclear, and police have launched a thorough investigation into the incident.
