The Indian cricket team, captained by Rohit Sharma, had a memorable breakfast meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his residence on Lok Kalyan Marg, New Delhi, on Thursday. The Prime Minister congratulated the team for their recent T20 World Cup victory during the hour-long gathering.

Arriving at No. 7, Lok Kalyan Marg at 11 am IST, the players and support staff had earlier departed from ITC Maurya, where they received a warm reception. Captain Rohit Sharma, head coach Rahul Dravid, and star player Virat Kohli marked the occasion by cutting a special cake prepared by the hotel's chef.

PM Modi encouraged the team to continue their winning momentum, expressing confidence that their triumph in Barbados would inspire future successes. In a video, the Prime Minister and the players were seen sharing laughs and reminiscing about the World Cup campaign. Notable players like Jasprit Bumrah, Suryakumar Yadav, and Hardik Pandya also shared their thoughts during the meeting.

BCCI secretary Jay Shah and president Roger Binny were present at the breakfast meeting.

After the meeting, the team headed to the New Delhi airport to fly to Mumbai for a celebratory open-top bus parade. They wore customized India jerseys with "Champions" emblazoned on them.

The Indian team's return home was marked by enthusiastic celebrations. They arrived at New Delhi airport on a special charter plane arranged by the BCCI. Secretary Jay Shah accompanied the team. Fans braved early morning rain to welcome their heroes, who greeted and waved at the crowd. Rohit Sharma, holding the T20 World Cup trophy aloft, created a viral moment. Virat Kohli and other players also interacted with fans and took photos.

Outside their hotel, Rohit Sharma led the celebrations, dancing to dhol beats. Suryakumar Yadav and Rishabh Pant showed off their Bhangra skills, while Hardik Pandya, sporting a white Caribbean-style hat, posed for photographers.

The festivities continued in Mumbai with an open-top bus parade along Marine Drive, culminating in a felicitation ceremony at Wankhede Stadium. Rohit Sharma invited fans to join the celebrations via social media.

BCCI secretary Jay Shah later presented the trophy and prize money of Rs 125 crore to the players at Wankhede Stadium.

This victory ended an 11-year drought for an ICC trophy for the Indian team, who went undefeated in the tournament, beating former champions Australia and England before clinching a thrilling final against South Africa. The triumph also marked the retirement of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ravindra Jadeja from T20Is, and the end of Rahul Dravid's tenure as head coach on a high note.
