IndiGo Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Delhi After Mid-Air Engine Scare
Aircraft from Visakhapatnam touches down safely in the national capital as full emergency protocol is activated
28-03-2026An IndiGo flight carrying 161 passengers was forced to make an unscheduled landing at Indira Gandhi International Airport on Saturday morning following a suspected engine malfunction.
The aircraft, a Boeing 737, was operating as flight 6E 579 from Visakhapatnam to Delhi when the crew reported a technical issue mid-flight. Authorities at the airport declared a full emergency as a precautionary measure to ensure a safe landing.
According to officials, the aircraft landed without incident and all passengers were deboarded safely. Emergency response teams, including multiple fire tenders, were rushed to the runway after the alert was received at around 10:54 am.
No injuries or visible damage have been reported. Further checks are expected to determine the exact cause of the suspected engine trouble.
