IndiGo Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Mumbai After Bomb Threat
An IndiGo flight from Chennai to Mumbai made an emergency landing at Mumbai Airport following a bomb threat, the second such incident for the airline in a week
01-06-2024An IndiGo flight operating from Chennai to Mumbai, flight 6E 5314, made an emergency landing at Mumbai Airport after receiving a bomb threat. Upon landing, the crew followed established protocols, and the aircraft was directed to an isolation bay in accordance with security agency guidelines.
IndiGo confirmed that all passengers safely disembarked and the aircraft is currently undergoing thorough inspections. "Post-completion of all security checks, the aircraft will be positioned back in the terminal area," the airline stated.
This incident marks the second bomb threat received by an IndiGo flight within a week. On May 28, a similar threat was made against a flight from Delhi to Varanasi. In that incident, passengers were evacuated via emergency exits at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport, with video footage showing passengers and crew exiting the plane using slides and carrying their cabin baggage.
Safety guidelines dictate that evacuations should be completed within 90 seconds, and passengers are instructed not to take any baggage during emergencies. Due to the violation of these safety protocols, IndiGo has taken action against the crew involved, grounding two pilots and four cabin crew members.
The repeated bomb threats highlight the need for strict adherence to safety protocols and thorough security checks to ensure passenger safety and maintain trust in airline operations.
