A wristwatch may appear minimal at first glance — a dial, a strap, a mechanism ticking away — yet at the highest levels of craftsmanship, it becomes a canvas for art and narrative. Jacob & Co’s Opera Vantara Green Camo is one such creation, where timekeeping merges with symbolism, luxury, and purpose.
The exclusive timepiece draws inspiration from Anant Ambani, the youngest son of Mukesh and Nita Ambani, who is widely recognised for his refined taste in luxury watches. Known for pairing statement timepieces with his outfits — and even gifting rare watches to close friends during his wedding — Anant Ambani has now inspired a creation that reflects his personal passion beyond style: wildlife conservation.
The US-based luxury brand has designed the Opera Vantara Green Camo as a tribute to Vantara, the Global Wildlife Rescue and Conservation Centre established by Anant Ambani in Gujarat. Rather than being just a watch, the piece unfolds like a miniature landscape, fusing mechanical complexity with a deeply personal story.
At the centre of the dial is a meticulously hand-painted figurine of Anant Ambani, symbolising his leadership in conservation efforts. Standing beside him are two iconic representations of India’s wildlife — a lion and a Bengal tiger — conveying strength, guardianship, and ecological responsibility. Above the figurine, the watch hands rest on an elephant’s trunk, further reinforcing the theme of wildlife preservation.
The surrounding camouflage-inspired backdrop is anything but ordinary. Crafted entirely from precious stones, it features a striking mix of demantoid garnets, tsavorites, green sapphires, and white diamonds. Each gemstone has been individually selected and hand-set, creating layers of green tones and light. In total, the watch incorporates 397 gemstones weighing nearly 22 carats.
While Jacob & Co has not officially disclosed the price, industry estimates place the value of the timepiece at around $1.5 million, underscoring its exclusivity.
Jacob & Co founder Jacob Arabo has long been known for pushing creative boundaries in watchmaking. He has previously described his philosophy as one rooted in innovation and storytelling — turning ideas once thought impossible into reality. The brand’s creations have adorned global icons ranging from international athletes to film and music stars.
This is also not the first time the maison has linked its designs to cultural or spiritual narratives. Earlier bespoke editions, including one inspired by Ram Janmabhoomi, have been worn by prominent Indian figures, including members of the Ambani family.
With the Opera Vantara Green Camo, Jacob & Co once again redefines luxury — transforming a watch into a statement of identity, values, and vision.
