Jacqueline Fernandez Invests in EaseMyTrip and Becomes Brand Ambassador
Bollywood actress Jacqueline Fernandez has acquired a stake in EaseMyTrip and will also serve as the travel portal's brand ambassador to expand its reach
11-12-2024Easy Trip Planners, the parent company of the travel portal EaseMyTrip.com, has announced the issuance of 12.84 crore fully paid-up equity shares, totaling ₹234.03 crore at ₹18.22 per share. Bollywood actress Jacqueline Fernandez has joined as one of the new investors, acquiring 27.44 lakh shares, which amounts to a 0.07% stake in the company. Recently appointed as the brand ambassador, Jacqueline aims to enhance the brand’s visibility, particularly through her extensive social media following.
Rikant Pittie, the co-founder of EaseMyTrip.com, expressed confidence that Jacqueline's involvement would help the company reach a wider audience, encouraging more people to explore travel. Jacqueline, a known travel enthusiast, expressed her enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, "Travel has always been a huge part of my life. I’m excited to be associated with EaseMyTrip."
Jacqueline Fernandez’s Upcoming Films
On the professional front, Jacqueline Fernandez is set to star in the upcoming film Fateh, which marks Sonu Sood's directorial debut. The movie, which focuses on the issue of cybercrime, will feature Jacqueline alongside Vijay Raaz and Naseeruddin Shah. Fateh is scheduled for release on January 10, 2025.
Additionally, Jacqueline will appear in the much-awaited Housefull 5, a comedy installment featuring a star-studded cast that includes Akshay Kumar, Jackie Shroff, Nargis Fakhri, Nana Patekar, and Riteish Deshmukh. The film is set to release on June 6, 2025.
EaseMyTrip's Expansion and Growth
EaseMyTrip recently announced a 1:1 bonus share issuance, offering shareholders an additional share for each one held. This marks the company’s third bonus issue, following similar announcements in February 2022 and November 2022. The record date for eligibility was set as November 29, 2024.
Despite a 45.17% drop in consolidated net profit to ₹25.87 crore in Q2 FY25, the company reported a 2.1% growth in revenue from operations, reaching ₹144.67 crore. To support its growth, the company has entered into agreements to acquire stakes in Pflege Home Health Care Center, Jeewani Hospitality, and Planet Education Australia, with plans to acquire 49%, 50%, and 49% stakes, respectively, through a share swap agreement. In today’s trading, EaseMyTrip’s shares were priced at ₹16.72, reflecting a 1% decline.
