Jennifer Lopez Files for Divorce from Ben Affleck on Second Wedding Anniversary
Lopez has officially filed for divorce from Ben Affleck, ending their two-year marriage as rumors of their separation come to a close
21-08-2024Jennifer Lopez has filed for divorce from Ben Affleck, officially ending their marriage just two years after their wedding. The legal documents were filed on August 20 in Los Angeles County Superior Court, coinciding with the second anniversary of their traditional wedding ceremony, which took place in Georgia. The couple, who tied the knot in 2022, had been the subject of separation rumors for months before making the decision to part ways.
At the time of this report, neither Lopez nor Affleck had released an official statement regarding their divorce. According to the legal filings, the couple had been separated since April 26, 2024. Reports indicate that there is no prenuptial agreement in place, meaning their earnings during the two-year marriage will be considered community property. Additionally, Lopez has waived spousal support and has requested the court to deny any such support for Affleck.
A source close to Lopez told People magazine that the singer-actress took her time to process the separation and is now ready to move forward with the next chapter of her life. "She's very disappointed and sad, but Ben hasn't given her any signs that he wants to continue their marriage," the source said.
Lopez and Affleck had two weddings during their brief marriage. The first was an intimate ceremony in Las Vegas on July 16, 2022, followed by a larger, more traditional celebration in Georgia on August 20, 2022.
Lopez is a mother to 16-year-old twins, Emme and Max, with her ex-husband Marc Anthony. Affleck, meanwhile, shares three children—Violet, Seraphina, and Samuel—with his ex-wife, Jennifer Garner.
