In a major step forward for international academic collaboration, O.P. Jindal Global University (JGU), recognised as India’s leading private university, has formalised partnerships with two prestigious colleges at the University of Cambridge—Lucy Cavendish College and Murray Edwards College.

The Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs), signed on July 1 and 2, 2025, in Cambridge, are aimed at fostering inclusive global education, boosting academic exchange, and enhancing student mobility between India and the UK. This marks a key development in connecting institutions from the Global South and Global North.

As part of this initiative, JGU will introduce two immersive Short-Term Study Abroad Programmes (STSAPs):

  • Commercial Laws and Corporate Governance at Lucy Cavendish College

  • The Era of FinTech: Blockchain, AI, and Digital Inclusion at Murray Edwards College

Close to 100 students from JGU will participate in these multidisciplinary learning experiences, engaging with top Cambridge faculty and exploring cutting-edge themes in law, finance, and emerging technologies.

Commenting on the collaboration, Professor (Dr.) C. Raj Kumar, Founding Vice Chancellor of JGU, said,

“This partnership is a transformative step for higher education in India. Collaborating with two progressive Cambridge colleges reflects our university’s mission to champion global learning and inclusive academic excellence. Together, we aim to empower future leaders through meaningful international engagement.”

Professor Dame Madeleine Atkins, President of Lucy Cavendish College, added,

“We are pleased to host JGU’s study programme and to support initiatives that create global educational opportunities.”

Emma Hilditch, Business Development Manager at Murray Edwards College, noted,

“We’re excited to welcome students from JGU. This collaboration is the start of what we hope will be a long-standing and fruitful relationship.”

This milestone agreement is part of JGU’s broader vision to provide students in India access to global education opportunities, strengthening its presence on the world academic stage.
