A major protest by Jharkhand government job aspirants escalated in Ranchi as thousands of JPSC-JSSC candidates marched towards the state Assembly, breaking through several security barricades along the route.

Police deployed water cannons to stop the protesters as the situation became tense. Security personnel later resorted to lathicharge after some demonstrators pushed past the barricades. Several protesters were reportedly injured during the confrontation near the Vidhan Sabha.

The demonstration was led by candidates demanding action over alleged irregularities in the recruitment process. The protesters have been pressing the government for a resolution to their concerns surrounding the JSSC-CGL examination.

STUDENT LEADER JOINS MARCH ON STRETCHER

Student activist Devendra Nath Mahto, who has been on a hunger strike for nine days, also joined the demonstration. Despite his weakened condition, Mahto was brought to the protest site on a stretcher as the march moved towards the Assembly.

His participation further highlighted the intensity of the students' agitation, with protesters continuing to demand that the government address their allegations.

GOVERNMENT OFFERS PROBE

The Jharkhand government has maintained that it is prepared to order a judicially supervised investigation into the alleged recruitment-related irregularities.

However, the government has rejected the demand for an immediate cancellation of the JSSC-CGL examination, stating that such a decision cannot be taken unilaterally.

The standoff between the protesting candidates and the authorities has consequently continued, with students insisting on stronger action and the government offering an investigation instead.

PROTEST ESCALATES OUTSIDE ASSEMBLY

The march towards the Jharkhand Assembly marked a significant escalation in the students' campaign. What began as a demand for answers over the recruitment process turned confrontational when protesters crossed police barriers.

With water cannons and lathicharge used to control the gathering, the situation around the Assembly remained tense as the students continued to press for their demands.
